Welcome to the SMOW Knights’ School
Athletic Program
The athletic program at St. Mary of
the Woods is an extension of the educational curriculum and was created with
Christian sportsmanship as its core value. SMOW teams play in the City Suburban
Catholic Conference (CSCC) which adheres to a "no-cut" participation
philosophy, offering equal playing time for 5-6 grades and average playing time
for 7-8 grades.
The SMOW program encourages
participation from students in 5-8 grades, offering a variety of sports
including:
·
Fall - soccer and cross-country
·
Winter - basketball and volleyball
·
Spring – softball, baseball, track
and golf
The continued and future success of
the school athletic program depends upon the commitment of both parent and
non-parent coaches, and the participation from our vibrant Catholic school
community. Our Athletic Board manages these programs and ensures all coaches
and volunteers are compliant with Archdiocese Virtus training and other prudent
measures for protecting the students. The SMOW athletic program is subject to
the authority of our Pastor and Principal and does not discriminate on the
basis of race, color, sex, national or ethnic origin.
We appreciate the efforts of so many
to offer the wonderful opportunity for students to be a “Knight” and represent our
school. The Athletic Board meets monthly and welcomes your feedback as we
continue to improve our school sports programs.
Go Knights!
